Dream Seeker

Invited by Hulu Culture, I participated in their exhibition “Let’s cut to the chase — our public housing estate stories”. My piece was a folding bed. Housing estates had very limited space in those years, a lot of males would place folding beds on corridors or corners of their estates for sleeping. This “sleep-anywhere” and adaptive spirit was directly reflected in this artifact. How many dreams did come true on those folding beds for the generation of “Below the Lion Rock” back then? To imitate the experience of “sleep-anywhere”, participants could try sleeping on this nylon folding bed. “Dream seeker” would wander around different areas in Hong Kong for photos, in an attempt to connect current circumstances to the symbolic meaning of folding beds.
